Lumby Air Races Results 2008

On Sunday June 15th over 70 pilots from all over western Canada and NW USA, filled the Lumby Valley sky for hours on end at altitudes of over 10,000 ft. in light and variable winds to conclude a vary successful 3rd annual Lumby Air Races.

Some Hang Glider and Paraglider pilots showed up in Lumby a week early to practice the race around a natural 10k rectangle and a natural 25k triangle over the village of Lumby BC Canada as part of Lumby Days, www.LumbyDays.ca . Natural meaning there is a visible turn point that usually produces lift. GPS confirmation was still required for scoring.

Lumby Scores - revised with a retraction

Looks like we made a few miscalculations at the end of the air races and now have the new winners list below.
If we would have taken more time to review the initial results it would have been easier to make it right before the presentations.
We will get it right next year and we hope you can understand.

For those that got a cheque and shouldn't have or those that didnt and should have we sincerely apologize.

You know who you are and I hope you choose to make it right between yourself ASAP.

Lumby Record Broken

John McClintock showed up in Lumby Saturday June 24th with his newly acquired Atos. He launched from Coopers at 1pm with several other flyers, and he flew back over Silver Star reaching 11,000 ft ASL before he proceeded to race around the valley for 5 hours not even aware that he was breaking the local time in the air record for take off and landing in Lumby that was 4.5 hours. Sunday was an even better day with no clouds and faster rising blue thermals, many greaat flights, however no records were set.

Lumby Weather looking great!

The weather forecast for The Lumby Air Races could not be much better at this time.

A huge High pressure system is set up off the pacific and the local forecast according to The Weather Network are lows of 5 and highs of 25 for the next week with variable Sun and Clouds. This means great lapse rates and clear in the mornings and clouding over with cumulus in the afternoon.
PERFECT FOR CLASSIC LUMBY RACING!!!!!

The Race starts Friday morning in conjunction with Lumby Days.
