Day 6 and Morning of Day 7
Day 6: Wow! What an impressive Hang Gliding Task. Too bad we were all in Paragliders! With a strong cross wind and a turnpoint that was positioned upwind after our climbout on the mountain; Many gliders sunk out on the way to TP 1. After 3 thermals and an increasing upwind distance to the turnpoint I resigned myself to try going further downwind and around the blue hole. With over 8 km to the 1st turnpoint and 6km/h penetration headway I knew that there was going to be no chance. My day ended after 1:33 in the air. It’s fun to fly with all these gliders again and now that the weekend has arrived we’re sure to have more locals showing up to share the air with us.
It's anybody's race today!
I think it's down to a one task comp!. If the task is a good call, and turns out to be valid... It's anybody's race and comp. for that matter! The leaders of both classes are so close in the standings that a complete upset could be expected and is absolutely possible. I think there will be some excitement and anticipation on launch today. The forecast is for south @ 5 k/h. As we eat breakfast and look out the window here it looks considerably windier. That helps with such a low launch site as we can soar while waiting for a thermal. If the predicted light winds come true it will be the lucky and skillful that get away as the 3 min do or die that we have here may see some pilots bombing out. I just hope and pray not to be in that category!
