Kamloops XC Meet - last meet of the year!

So there seems to be a lot of interest in having another sanctioned HG event this year. With a race to get on the 2007 Cdn HG World team, the points are close for many of the six positions - it really is anyone's game.
There was talk all year long about having a meet in Kamloops on Labour Day weekend - unfortuneately, we left it go too late to get HAPC Class B Sanctioning (60 days notice needs to happen) so it can only be a Class C event. What does that mean? Really, it only means that the winner will only earn a max of 300 NTSS points if full field and task validity are attained.
Class C meets are more 'relaxed' in the way we score things...so we'll see how we do it. I still lean towards Race to Goal events so that is what we will still most likely do.
BUT, we shouldn't just look at the points. This is a great opportunity to get together, one last time before the season ends and have a great event!
The plan is to have a low-key, team meet...and out of Sun Peaks! We used to have the HG Nationals there back in 97-99 and had up to 75 pilots at the one event. The Nationals were in late July/early August but the reason for having this meet there is that it is probably our best chance of the best soaring conditions. It is higher elevation and should be more unstable. it is also driving distance to Savona if we need to go there due to the weather. Regardless, it is at a ski resort! And with ski resorts, there are bars, shops, mountain biking, golf courses, hiking trails - it is a great place to bring the whole family really.
Jeff Rempel talked to Ian McArthur (he ran the three Nationals held there) and Ian is now working for the resort in some capacity (event organizer or something along those lines) and said that we were more than welcome and could drive up the mountain to the various launches. Ian also runs the Oh-Zone B&B at the base of the mountain and offered rooms to pilots for $25/night (including breakfast).
So what do you say?! Let's get together and have a great end to a great competition season! If nothing else, this is a rare opportunity to fly at a site that is usually restricted. Let's show Sun Peaks that they should have us there more often!
This going to be both a HG and PG meet - come one, come all.

I am going to charge MINIMAL to have this event - $5 per pilot goes to the World Team funds and I would say no more than $10 for meet fees...so $15 total. You can't beat that! Just come out and fly!
