08 Canadian HG nats

I like the idea of going down to Lakeview and piggybacking on the US nats. More pilots, new site, great organizers, enough room in the comp and on launch. I want feedback ASAP as to pursue this idea or not.

As you know Mark, I'm keen on the idea of takin it outside Canada, for various reasons. As for the 9 Canuks going to Santa Cruz, it shows we have a few comp pilots that are prepared to step up a notch and compete outside Canada. Nothing draws a crowd like a crowd. Maybe they will drag a few more into the ring. I agree with Scott, If you build it they will come......... Theres no reason why you can't get the same level of registration in Lakeview. Why not possibly go with it for a year or 2 then dangle a carrot in Canada and get the same no of pilots coming up here for a well organised Nats. The outer country pilots will know the standard they are competing against and by then hopefully most canuks will bring good Ladder points to the meet. That will also be a draw.
Any chance of getting a results page going? I'm wondering how the N.Z. Nats went.

I just can't get used to the idea of taking the Nats outside of Canada...I know others do it, I just don't like it.
I know if we do it (go to a big US meet) to compete, we compete against a generally higher scale of pilots. I like that and that's why I go to bigger US meets. But I like the idea (maybe it's a pipe-dream) of using our domestic Canadian Nats as a way to introduce Canadian pilots to competing (it seems to be our only/last competition) - if you 'force' them to go to the States (or elsewhere) to TRY competing, it's just another barrier to them giving it a shot.
Sure going to these bigger meets improves the skills of those Canadians that go but I don't think it's healthy for the NUMBER of Canadians competing as a whole.
I just think you'll see less and less Canadians competing, not more.
And geez - if you're going
And geez - if you're going to do it in the States, may as well use the Santa Cruz meet for it...out of the first 31 entrants, 9 are Canucks...
