9) Costs

We don't want the entry fee to be prohibitive to entry but a fee is needed to achieve our goals. We want to restrict entry fee so all events cost the same while offering the same features as well.

Minimum entry fee is $40 per event but organizers are welcome to charge more.

  • World Team Fund - $5 per pilot per individual event
  • $5 per pilot to go to GoFlyXC.com for organizing/registration/providing computer
  • $5 per pilot to go to event winner?
  • $15 per pilot to go to series winners ($5 for each class)
  • remaining goes to event organizer(s)/scorer(s)

Organizers are responsible for other costs:

  • maps if needed
  • forms copied
  • courier costs of rental computer

$40 seems prohibitively high

$40 seems prohibitively high if you want to encourage one day events.

We don't want to encourage 1

We don't want to encourage 1 day meets neccessarily. We'd like them to be 2, 3 and 4 day meets. We want the series scoring done daily though to eliminate concerns about validity of a meet. The theory is to make each comp day of equal value, no matter the size of the field, location, task, or how many days a comp runs. Meet scoring puts a bow on it.

I'm with you on this Doug.

I'm with you on this Doug. I think that one of the reasons that our locals don't enter anything anymore is the attitude "you want me to pay to do the same thing that I do on any other day?" I'd rethink the price structure a bit. If it is proposed as a year long event where $30 is paid up front and an additonal $5 per pilot flying day it will be more palatable. That way costs decrease per flight the more you participate.

Prize money

- we balance out the meet winner money and the series winner contribution.

What do you suggest? Do you

What do you suggest? Do you want to give money to event class winners? Or more to the event winners?

Sorry. I was thinking $10 to

Sorry. I was thinking $10 to event class winners and $10 to series class winner pool. That probably over emphasizes the series win, but would make the effort to attend more meets more attractive.

Prizes...

How do we want to pay out the prize money...
- per class for each event?
- per class for series winner?

** as per above, I recommended the open class series winner gets $5 per and then the overall series winners of each class gets a cut of the rest of the money. This is in hopes of encouraging year-long participation at the lower levels rather than just one event.

Or....do we not even want to compensate the open class winner of the event....after all, this isn't designed for them....but we want to encourage their participation. It's unlikely that Class A pilots' participation will help their NTSS scores....will they come just for the fun/practice????

I like the idea of a limit

I like the idea of a limit and breakdown, with some flexibility after that. Also think the list above needs to be pared down and made simple. I'd make the standard weekend meet entry $50, with a maximum of $75. Here's the distribution I would propose...

- WTF - $5 - seems only right.
- GOFly - $5 - you'll be main source of advertising and distribution, and I don't need anything.
- Series Winners Pool - $5 - to be accumulated over the year and supplemented by what we can get from sponsors.
- Series Administration - $5 - to be distributed where we need to cover any general expenses, then residual to HPAC.
- Meet Scoring - $5 - with that to go to GoFly if we can get the scoring centralized.
- Comp Winners Pool - $25 - half the money to the competitors and we could simplify the prize giving by getting a standard trophy made up by one source (saving money and time) then distributed to all meets.
- Meet Organizer - can raise the fee up from $50 to the $75 limit (or something in between) to cover their costs or if they have some extraordinary expenses or extras (breakfast/dinners, events, etc.)
