In Detroit....en Route to Arizona
We packed up the family and are en route to Arizona. We got flights out of Detroit (a 3h30 drive) for the three of us for under $900 (return, taxes in) - you can't beat that! Now that Brody's 2, we have to pay for him. Plus I couldn't find any flights out of Toronto that were direct to Arizona and the first leg of the Toronto flights were on planes that wouldn't be able to fit the glider in.
If you are familiar with my travels....I rarely have it easy. To familiarize with me last trip's escapades, read about the forgotten passport and missing my ride here.
We made damned sure this time that my passport was packed and made sure Brody's passport was updated a few months back. So we get in the car, ready to pull out of the drive way and I jokingly ask Donna if she has her passport. We chuckle about my escapades from last year and she pulls her's out to make sure it is with us and opens up to reveal an expired date.
Unbelievable.
THANK GOD...luck is on our side.....if we would have flown out of Toronto, we would have been screwed as you need a valid passport to fly internationally into the States now....but to drive across the border (and then fly domestically in the States), picture ID is fine. But she didn't have her birth certificate on her so it was lucky we caught that before we pulled out of the driveway.
Other than that, so far so good. We're at our hotel in Detroit for the night and fly out in the morning. It's cool seeing the other blogs of all the others (Jamie, Davis, Rob Kells, OB) departing on their journeys - I'm really looking forward to reconnecting with (not-so-) old friends ....and of course getting my feet off the ground.
