Miles in May - summary

We had two more task, Monday, and Tuesday, both were to Bassano, about 80 km., to the NE.
We had strong south winds each day, Monday I was 700 meters short, felt alittle like Scott, as he comes in short sometimes, and Tuesday I was 10 km. short, with pilots sprinkled all the way back, there was more pilots close on tueasday however.

Miles in May - Sun, Day 1

Now for the good part of day 1 at the Miles in May....they had a 103km task to the SE of Vulcan. Apparently the day took a while to get good. Ross Hunter was the only one to make goal. I talked to Rob Clarkson and he made it 20km short of goal.

Today (holiday Monday) brings overcast skies and a not-so-good forecast for today and the next two days look rather rainy.

Crashing a hang glider during a competition near Vulcan yesterday sent a 52-year-old man to hospital with serious injuries.

The accident happened about 9 km west of Vulcan, 75 km southeast of Calgary, about 2:30 p.m., when the competitor suddenly descended some 15 metres to the ground for unknown reasons, said Vulcan EMS director Dean Hartunt.

Chased out of the sky.

Chased out of the sky. - It looked like and awsome day. <

Spring is here.

Spring is here. - The flying season has finally begun at home. We’ve had some crappy weather here so far this spring. Lucky some of us were able to head south and get a head start on the flying. Moore, Doug k, Doug D, Paul, Fiona, Ross, Bruce and myself headed out to Vulcan to get in some flying. Bruce was loading up and getting ready to go when the rest of us arrived and started to set up. Ross towed him up and he was able to get away at 1:00. I was the next ready and Doug K towed me up.

This years meet will be Class "B", race to goal, so we have to limit registration to 24 pilots. Four pilots per tow system, six tow systems. We have another road, so 36 pilots can come, spread the word! :<)
Please try to organize your own tow team.
