Event Name:
Ottawa Challenging 4th of July Weekend

This is an open invitation to all HG/PG pilots in Ottawa (All Canadian pilots are welcome) for a X-Country competition and to fly with and challenge a world HG pilot champion, Linda Salamone, in her first visit to Canada. This event will be held on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th of July.

Linda is one of the U.S's leading women competitive pilots. she was just recently ranked in the top ten in the world.

She kindly accepted my invitation to put Ottawa on her busy flying summer calendar between the pre-women's worlds in Germany and US National in Florida.

Fast and lonely

Yesterday-s task 8 of the Paragliding Worlds called for 114 km of flying. The fastest pilots completed the approx. 100 km speed section in an incredible 2,5 hours!

After the rest day on Saturday we did not fly a task on Sunday. Instead we commerated Stefan Schmoker, the pilot who sadly died in an accident on Friday. We flew more or less straight from launch to Valle, with flowers which we dropped over the landing zone. In the evening there was also a mass in the main church.

Confidence keeps you up

As you have recently posted on the Oz Report, I pulled off a very fortunate 5th place finish
in the recent Santa Cruz Flats competition. So was it glider performance?

The first day was my 2nd flight on this brand new out of the box glider with no special comp tuning. My only adjustment was to turn down the tip-wands a notch So why did i do so unexpectedly good?
