It’s really turned into a beautiful day.  The skies cleared up and the winds calmed enough to not be blown out, and to still be soarable.  I’m looking out my window and can see half a dozen gliders in the sky.

I’ve yet to mention some of our latest new pilots.  Here they are…

We had some great flying days this week and Tuesday I had a great little flight.  Tuesday is our Saturday around here and I spent the morning running errands with my son, all the while keeping an eye on every flag in town.  Being a mom of a toddler, you need to take advantage of every flying chance you get but you also need to take advantage of all your napping opportunities.  I laid down for a quick, 20 minute afternoon nap and an hour and a half later, woke up, looked up and saw at least fifteen gliders in the air.

The following is a flight report from a day during Tennessee Tree Toppers’ Team Challenge.  Just like the Women’s Hang Gliding Festival, Team Challenge was a huge success.  The fall is just a beautiful time of year to fly around here, and Team Challenge is such a fun time for pilots of all skill levels.

Women’s Festival Updates

The following is an outline of the two clinics that Claire Vassort is teaching on Saturday September 27.  One is geared towards newer pilots, but both clinics are valuable information for all pilots.  Because of weather and a busy schedule, we are staying a little flexible on the times of Saturday’s clinics.  Registrants, please be at the meet and greet for more info.

Lee Abelson is in the running for Dad of the Year. Last week, Lee secretly bought his daughter Blair a Falcon 2 195. He planned the surprise perfectly…drop Blair off at the training hills to reclear for the mountain, get up top, set up said glider and put a pretty red bow on it. Blair was ecstatic!
