Decompression...

Launch the day after the comp. Looking to the north.

What's Next?

I had a fantastic flight today in the most lovely conditions. Like yesterday, we were taking off from the lower north-facing launch. Unlike yesterday however, I didn't have to share the thermals with 110 other pilots. Jack, Scott, the Jeffs and I and a handful of others enjoyed the super smooth thermals and I only came out to the valley when it got too cold up high. Of course, everything was lifting off and coming down took forever. What a nice end to a hugely fun competition.

Pictures from the Final Day Yesterday

Carl racing in first, quite happy!

Monica's nail-biting wait for Scott to come in to goal.

Via Ferrata

Amazing time at the via ferrata on Thursday.  The forecast was for rain, so we didn't even have to venture up the hill and wait wait wait for the day to be cancelled.  The Jeff's had gone out to the via ferrata near Laragne a few days ago and loved it.  Jeff Shapiro is a climber, so it probably wasn't much new to him.  But the Brits, and Rob and I  were duly impressed.  Via ferrata, I was told, translates to "iron road", which is what they have built up the side of the rock so that regular touron, non-climbing types like us can give it a whirl.

Final Standings

Pre-Worlds Day 8

I wake up late, and find out that we're not going up the hill. Rain is in the forecast. It's overcast and cooler. A cold front has come through. I'm not too bent up about not flying.
